During the terror and treason trial of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu at the Federal High Court in Abuja, the DSS revealed disturbing details from a raid on an ESN (Eastern Security Network) hideout, IPOB’s armed wing. A DSS operative testified that security agents encountered: “some ESN members, about seven, with human heads and some eating human flesh, which they said was for spiritual fortification.”
Additionally, a commander within ESN, Uzuoma Benjamin alias “Onye Army,” was reported to have confessed under interrogation. According to him, the group used the heads of 10 young girls to prepare spiritually potent charms. The DSS witness revealed even more macabre rituals with alleged connections to Nnamdi Kanu’s directives: Benjamin, the detained ESN figure, also allegedly confessed that Kanu instructed ESN members to bury their fallen comrade “Ikonso” with 2,000 human heads of which only 30 were recovered.
These revelations were offered to demonstrate alleged ritualistic violence and spiritual practices intended to empower ESN militants, thereby reinforcing the prosecution’s argument that Kanu’s broadcasts incited not only physical attacks but also occult-related violence within the South-East. It’s essential to emphasize that these are allegations presented by DSS officials in the ongoing trial. Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB deny these claims, and the case is still pending adjudication.
