Godwin Emefiele, former Central Bank of Nigeria governor, faces serious legal troubles following his suspension by President Bola Tinubu. After months in custody, he was transferred to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, which is investigating multiple allegations of financial misconduct, including embezzlement and unlawful property acquisition valued in billions. Emefiele has received four bails since June 2023, with the latest being N2 billion, subject to stringent conditions set by the court to ensure he remains available for trial.
