NDLEA Apprehends Businessman Attempting to Smuggle Cocaine to Iran

The NDLEA arrested 44-year-old Ezemokwe Chukwuebuka Christian at Port Harcourt Airport for attempting to smuggle 1.172 kilograms of cocaine by ingesting 53 wraps. He was caught on June 7 before a flight to Tehran. Ezemokwe admitted to being part of a drug trafficking network between West Africa and Iran for two years.

Hundreds of Cattle Die in River Benue: What Went Wrong?

On June 14, 2025, over 100 cattle drowned or were buried by soil while attempting to cross the River Benue near Achepe village in Nasarawa State. Armed Fulani herdsmen, fleeing violence in Benue State, hurriedly moved cattle through traditional crossing points. Erosion and heavy rains exacerbated the situation, resulting in a historic loss of livestock and leaving local communities in shock.
