Nigerian Entertainment Updates for June 30, 2025

1. First Nigerian Woman to Own a Cyber Truck

The dynamic founder and CEO of Bo Hairs, a top-tier hair extension brand has just made history in Nigeria. In a landmark event on June 29, 2025, she took delivery of her brand-new Tesla Cybertruck in Lagos, becoming the first Nigerian woman to own the futuristic electric vehicle. The impressive acquisition, reportedly valued at around ₦400–₦410 million, was publicly celebrated across social media platforms, with posts saying she “brags as she takes delivery of her Tesla Cybertruck”. Her pride was palpable as videos and images showed her beaming alongside the sleek “zero-mileage” beast, which she fondly referred to as her “special delivery” and “love at first sight.”

Beyond the hue and hype, this milestone is a powerful statement representing not just personal wealth, but the ambitions of female entrepreneurs in Nigeria staking their claim in new frontiers. Her accomplishment is more than a headline, it’s an inspiration. In a world often dominated by men in both business and luxury car ownership, Bo Hairs challenged norms and showcased that Nigerian women are ruling the roads and boardrooms alike.

2.Daniel Ademinokan disputes Stella Damasus divorce claim

Veteran Nollywood filmmaker Daniel Ademinokan has responded strongly to his ex-wife, actress Stella Damasus’ recent claim that she discovered their divorce via a YouTube video. In Instagram posts on June 29, 2025, he accused her public statement of “revisionist history” and provided email evidence from July 20, 2021, in which she directly requested his address for divorce papers, contradicting her version of events.

Through Ripples Nigeria, he asserted that his silence should not be viewed as confession or guilt: “when silence gets mistaken for ignorance or guilt, it’s only fair to offer a quick 5‑minute reality check.” He emphasized he withdrew from the public eye years ago but felt compelled to speak up over deliberate misrepresentation.

Ademinokan further disclosed allegations of physical abuse during the marriage, including that their son once needed makeup to conceal scars he sustained; claims that have reignited interest in possible domestic violence, and shifted the narrative from celebrity divorce to questions around child welfare and abuse.

Breakout music star Ayra Starr is making headlines for her transition into acting. In a recent interview with CBS. You’ve to be on set on time,” she shared. “So, it made me get used to military time and working hard. I respect actors so much more now. Their stamina is impeccable.”

Ayra further emphasized “This is the first time in my life that I’ve been on camera and I’m not singing. It was amazing. I learned so much from everyone, not just the greats,” she added.

The movie is an upcoming American fantasy film adapted from the bestselling novel by Nigerian-American author Tomi Adeyemi. It is slated for release by Paramount Pictures on January 15, 2027. 4. Mohbad’s case remains focal in entertainment news

Activist VeryDarkMan has reignited public debate over the tragic passing of singer Mohbad, nearly two years after his demise. On June 28, 2025, he dropped major bombshells by sharing previously unheard (alleged) voice notes between Sam Larry and Zlatan Ibile, which could shed new light on the sequence of events leading up to Mohbad’s death. VeryDarkMan issued a sharp ultimatum, giving Zlatan 48 hours to clarify why he didn’t intervene publicly, and encouraged Nigerians to remain vigilant and demand justice not just on social media, but through concrete actions.

The recordings, which allegedly capture Zlatan explaining why he stayed silent, sparked intense discourse online with some voicing frustration, others warning against jumping to conclusions without full context. Meanwhile, Sam Larry has already defended himself in a viral interview with VeryDarkMan, insisting he never harassed Mohbad and described their dispute as purely financial, warding off building public narratives. The combination of leaked audio, activist investigations, and courtroom anticipation amplifies the case, showing it’s far from being forgotten.

“Over to @zlatan_ibile ………………. And to Nigerians You say you want justice for mohbad and you are not happy I am bringing the case back up for more investigations? If you really want justice let zlatan come out and tell Nigerians why he didn’t come out to say the truth of this day? “Nigerians were divided on this case that is why the real people when Dey directly involved in how mohbad kpai(I don’t want the case to be forgotten let’s get it back up,the boy is still walking around,he hasn’t rested) justice for mohbad should not end until we know the truth from the real bullies, not the ones that social media showed us the real ones,” he said.

As the spotlight returns to these allegations, many are closely watching the development of this story ahead of the scheduled July court session. The renewed push led by VeryDarkMan is fueling calls for judicial transparency and heightens pressure on law enforcement agencies to deliver comprehensive findings and accountability.

In Nigeria’s entertainment community, Mohbad’s death continues to resonate not just as a tragedy, but as a symbol of systemic failures needing urgent attention.

 5. Wizkid absent from Afro Nation lineup

The official lineup for Afro Nation Portugal 2025, set for July 9–11 in Portimão, features high-profile artists like Burna Boy, Davido, Tems, Chris Brown, and Mary J. Blige, but notably excludes Wizkid, much to the shock and disappointment of fans. Social media erupted with reactions of some defending Wizkid, and others guessing festival politics played a part (“Wetin Starboy do una?”) while many lamented the absence of an artist who’s headlined past editions

The exclusion marks a stark contrast to previous Afro Nation events, where Wizkid consistently drew crowds as a headliner. Critics point out that while the festival remains star-studded, omitting a major Afrobeats ambassador could dampen the global appeal, especially among longtime fans. Speculation is now rife: is it festival politics, scheduling conflict, or a strategic move by the organizers?

Despite the twist, Afro Nation’s organizers have promised surprises and special guests. Some hope for a last-minute addition of Wizkid, while others focus on newfound opportunities for the lineup. As the countdown begins, all eyes are on whether Wizkid will join the festival at the eleventh hour or make a bigger statement outside the Afro Nation circuit.

6. Angela Okorie addresses arrest rumours

Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has publicly dismissed online rumors claiming she was arrested by the Nigeria Police Force. In a live video on June 29, 2025, she clarified that she was only invited for questioning, not detained and called the viral “arrest” story another example of baseless internet drama. She added she would no longer entertain online gossip, signaling her intention to draw a clear line between public persona and private peace.

The rumors had taken off after a viral clip showed Angela jogging while seemingly escorted by armed officers, prompting sensational speculation, especially with unverified claims that actress Mercy Johnson lodged a defamation petition leading to her purported arrest. Angela used the opportunity to set the record straight, denying any wrongdoing and stressing her voluntary cooperation with authorities.
